Edinburgh Wedding Photography
My first wedding after maternity leave was an Edinburgh Castle Wedding! It was just short coverage as the couple were based down south so they travelled up to Edinburgh with just their nearest and dearest to get married and then have some photos after! It was absolutely perfect and just what I needed to break myself in after some time off!
One of the greatest things was getting to know Lindsay the bride! When we were chatting we discovered that she had a baby around the same time as me…. In fact it was the day after! With babies so close in age we had a lot in common, and it was lovely to have someone to chat to. Our children continued to be weirdly similar, including a love for beige foods. Haha!
As you can imagine with an Edinburgh Castle Wedding you are not short of tourists swarming the place! Getting married makes you feel kind of famous anyway but this was next level!
I arrived at Edinburgh Castle with Matt and their families just in time to hear the one o’clock gun go off. After that we made our way up to the tiny St. Margaret’s Chapel – the oldest building in Scotland by the way! It is so tiny and a perfect fit for Lindsay and Matt’s lovely family.
Lindsay wore a dress from Two Birds, a shawl from MODA crochet and shoes from Kurt Geiger. Matt had his outfit sorted already as he is in the Royal Marines and wore his No. 1s.
The bridesmaid and flower girls outfits were from Monsoon and just lovely. Perfect for a winter wedding. The beautiful flowers were by Belvedere Blooms.
Some words from Lindsay on planning a small wedding:
“Only do things to please yourselves as it can quickly become a bigger event the more people you try and please. We only had close family to the main wedding and had a party for everyone else the week after at home (gave us chance to get dressed up again) Also choose what you can and can’t live without ie: our rings were the most important thing to us as we will wear them for life, whereas cake for example wasn’t as important. This kept costs down.”
So I hope you enjoy this lovely wee wedding and please get in touch if you are planning something similar and are looking for a wedding photographer!
