Clachan Sands – Outer Hebrides Wedding
So happy to be sharing another wedding story with you all, especially an Outer Hebrides Wedding! This wonderful colourful wedding was in a marquee on the machair at Clachan Sands in North Uist – one of my favourite Uist wedding locations to date! Sure – the weather was a bit grim on the day – especially if you compare it to their pre-wedding shoot that happened in the same location only two days before. But it really didn’t matter as you can see from the big smiles on every single persons face – especially Eilidh and Peter, the bride and groom!
They chose this location for their wedding because it is where they had their ‘First Date’ and also where Peter proposed to Eilidh – so it was absolutely perfect that they were able to have their wedding here too and will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
They hired a Marquee from Eilean Marquees and decorated it with lots of colourful lanterns and flowers with the help of close family and friends.
Peter’s mum made their main wedding cake and the cake topper was from Cakes by Kirsty based in Aberdeenshire.
Peter wore his own kilt but got a new jacket made by Geoffrey Kilts based in Edinburgh
They had the girls from Creative Cuts on hair and did their own make up.
They had the most BEAUTIFUL flowers from Mayfield Flowers based in Ayrshire. There were flowers everywhere it was such a dream!
They had Jackie Petrie, a close family friend marry them – she has done all the family weddings so that was very special for them.
They of course had the wonderful Stepping Stones catering – and the food was fantastic as always. For their dessert they had lots of family and friends bake all sorts of cakes and treats and it was all served with tea and coffee which I think is a perfect idea for dessert! I had so many of those cakes! So tasty!
And finally to get the party started they had Trail West on the stage who are absolutely fantastic. I always want to dance when I’m shooting a wedding with these guys – but I was 36 weeks pregnant at the time so thought it best not to!! Haha.
I asked Eilidh if she had any advice for anyone planning their wedding and she said “Don’t stress, have fun. It’s over way too quickly” I absolutely have to agree with her. Try to relax and soak it all in, sometimes that can be hard but like she said it’s over too quickly so enjoy every second.
